American Culture and Civilization is an introduction to the study concepts of culture and cultural diversity. We will explore the sources and development of major topics in American society and life. Students will not only gain a better understanding of the American culture and its underlying characteristics but will also increase their awareness of their own culture and other cultures. The course will also assist students in the development of critical reading, writing, and analytical skills as well as introduce them to a variety of American texts with reference to their social and cultural contexts.
